    1956 Tie Rod Part Numbers

    Could someone tell me what the GM part numbers are for the steering tie rod ends. Just in case it make a difference my car is a early build, #282.

    The original part numbers were GM #3692951, LH, and 3692952, RH. Later, these became GM #3737595, LH, and 3737596, RH. Later yet, GM #461903, LH, and GM #461902, RH. Finally, GM #461902 became GM #10159480 which was discontinued without supercession in April, 1999. GM #461903 had no successor and was discontinued in February, 1993. However, as far as I know, none of these numbers actually appear on the tie rod ends, just on the GM SERVICE parts label or box. The forging numbers 3691955, LH, and 3691956, RH or some derivative thereof MAY appear on some of the parts.

      Sheldon, grease zerks were on the sides, not the bottoms. Gary....
