    1968 AC blower relay question

The blower cut out relay for 1968 is a Delco Remy 881 according to the guides. I bought one on Ebay but is is too long to fit on the car under the wiper vacuum actuator. Did the 881 relay in 68 have a different mounting bracket than later years? Is this another 68 only part. If so does anyone know where to find an original?

    thanks

You have the wrong relay. The GM #1115881 was used for 1969-76, but not 1968. 1968 used relay GM #1116992 or, possibly, GM #1365166.

Here's a really old NOS 992 relay (going by the design of the box).

The judging guide says the bracket should be 881 but it sounds like that was a 69-76 part. Is this a case of the guide being incorrect for 68 and it shoudl be 992 stamped on the part?

Wayne is this your part? Is it for sale?

IMO, the JG should have said 992 up to and incl. 1968, although I see in the parts history that 1116992 was replaced (in service) by 1365166 on 4-67 [for '61 thru '68 usage], and this number seems to be confirmed by the '68 P&A30 first issue (Sept 1967). So for '68, you'd best get confirmation by the C3 guys that the 992 was NOT used, before proceeding.

The 992's come up for sale on eBay now and then. Yes, the one in the picture is mine; keeping as a spare in case the unit in my '65 ever fails.
