I was reading in a Corvette book ( Standard guide to corvette 2nd edition) that in 1990 a muffler option was available of the L98 Corvette which gave it 5 more horsepower. I dont see any such option listed in the Corvette Black book. Is this fact or fiction?

Re: 1990 muffler option
My memory is not the best, but I sure don't remember that. I have the old order guide around here somewhere.Tom Hendricks

Re: 1990 muffler option
The ZR1 order guide was a seperate deal back then. The guide I posted was for base coupe. The convertible was also seperate in the book. I just posted the coupe section since the OP specified the L98 muffler option that I was unable to locate or remember ?????Tom Hendricks

It was not an option, per se. It related to whether coupe or convertible and rear axle ratio. All convertibles as well as coupes with 2.59:1 axle ratio were rated at 245 HP and used different and more restrictive mufflers. Coupes with 3.07:1 or 3.33:1 axle ratios were rated at 250 HP and received less restrictive mufflers. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
