Re: buying a 2 post lift...recommendation/thoughts
Love my Rotary smart lift, has some trials installing it, but it was worth it. Has an air acutated safety finger. All of the controls are in one place,

I have a Rotary asymetrical two post. 10k capacity. I have had it 6 years without the slightest trouble. I had a commercial lift outfit to install it and was not sorry to spend the $500 or so. Same old thing - you get what you pay for.- Top

Terry Thanks for giving the reminder. With out repeating information I have posted in the past. The most important thing to look for in purchasing any lift is the ALI certification . This is the Automotive Lift Institute who requires all certified lifts to be tested by a independent testing lab. All certified lifts have the Gold ALI label on them
Also the concrete for all 2 post lifts come into play as does the electrical requirements.
import lifts.

Re: buying a 2 post lift...recommendation/thoughts
I have two Rotary lifts, one that is over 25 years old and the newest is about 15. Have not spent one dime on maintenance. I am a firm believer in Rotary, over the years probably have purchased at least 10, maybe 15 of them new and as far as I know they are still operating. Not the cheapest, but they have been in business for longer than I am old (that makes them very old) and have a very good reputation. Always remember that you may buy a bargain initially but 10-15 years down the road if you need parts, some/most of the manufacturers are out of business. You may have to call ghost busters for partsDick Whittington- Top

Dick Rotary lift company is the largest in the world most all of their products are ALI certified. That being said the older lifts like yours were much better constructed than the current models. Rotary does still build a good product
The only brand that I would recommend that I feel is better is Mohawk. They have never compromised the materials and they are the only lift company that gives a extended warranty.Mohawk is 100% built in America in New York state.

Mark I don't disagree at all, I see a lot of Mohawk lifts as I travel around. I think a lot of what you see depends on the local dealers and the service they can provide. I know a few, and I am sure you know many, people that have bought lifts on price only. Later on when they have a problem, their dealer/salesman/manufacturer is not to be found. I agree with you on the ALI certification. I would not get under a lift that did not have that label. I inspected a car a few weeks back and the owner had one of the no name lifts. Locks worked on one side only and he said he could not find anyone locally to work on it. I would not get under the car until he placed axle stands under the frame. I have seen the results of a lift failure and the human body is no match for the weight that comes crashing downDick Whittington- Top

Re: buying a 2 post lift...recommendation/thoughts
I bought a dozen Rotary 2-post lifts when we moved the Viper plant in 1995, and Rotary designed and built special lift pads for them that cleared under the Viper sidepipes. Their Detroit area distributor sent in a tech crew that trained our skilled tradesmen in the installation and maintenance procedures; you don't get that kind of service and support from most of the other lesser-known lift manufacturers. Never had an issue with any of the lifts, and every one went up and down at least a dozen times a day (and are still there, still operating on the new Viper).- Top
