'65 coupe Dome Light. Is the meltal bulb socket removable from the two wires?

Hi: I'm replacing the rear wiring harness on my '65 coupe. My old harness has a metal socket for the dome light bulb with two wires coming off it (black with white stripe & black with orange stripe). Does this metal socket come off the wires? The new harness does not have the metal socket, it just has two male bullet type push in connectors on the end of the two wires. I tried to pull the old wires out of the metal socket, but they are tight and I'm not sure that they even come off.

Yes they are tight as they have to provide electrical contact between the wires and the pins in the socket that provide power to the bulb. The harness you have described is just like the original with the bullet-shaped pins. Pull harder and you should be ok, if not you may have to dig the old ones out if you plan on reusing the socket. (pull one at a time)

Thanks Bill, I'll try to grab the pins with some needle nose pliers and hopefully they come out, as I was going to use the socket again.
