    Tachometer/Speedometer Rebuilder Recommendation

Well from my previous posting you see that I am working on the resto of my speedo and tach gauges. The speedometer went better than expected following the careful directions of others on the disassembly, cleaning and reassembly but then the tach was a another story. With all the care in the world in the removal of the needle did not help me - with a gentle pry and twist the thing popped off into the air like a rocket . Seems the needle was silver soldered onto the shaft at some point in the past and that proved to be the weak point. Must be why the tach was not working.

Short of the story is the needle shaft is now broken so I need to send the tach out for a rebuild for a new shaft and tension spring and recalibrating I guess. The gears are not stripped and everything seems to turn. Face is in good shape.

Would anyone be willing to offer their recommendations on a rebuilder based on the problems I am having. Looked through the Driveline and have the names of 3 individuals offering this service but thought I ask the question here as well.

Shucks I like to try and learn as much as i can in this whole restoration but I may soon be over my head if I continute and further with the tach.
    Best to all,
    John

Give Matt Patterson a call 864-414-1580 he used to work for D&M and now is on his own. He rebuilt our original '67 clock and it came out great. He is in the Greenville, SC area. I believe he does gauges as well.

I've used Corvette Instrument Service for both the '76 and '67s instruments, great work, prompt turnaround.

I just got my C1 tach, speedo and guages back from Redline. They look brand new. Pricing was great too.
