I have a non-radio car (64) which had a radio installed (very correctly) and then taken out, dash recovered, etc.
1. The speaker grille (no speaker anymore) has what looks like a peice of plastic sheet underneath the grille. Seems like a good idea to block light from the clock light, etc., but I don't find it in the AIM. Should this sheet be there or should I let the light shine through (and the dirt filter down)?
2. Hardware for the speaker grille attachment. Corvette central shows a 6 peice set, 4 hex nuts with attached star washers and two speed nuts. Paragon doesn't show a separate hardware kit, but for their replacement grille they show 2 nuts/star washers and two speed nuts. I only see places for 4 fasterners and, at this time have 4 flat washers with 4 hex nut star combos. Any experience? What is correct?
3. Since it "had" a radio installed there is a radio support bracket on the lower right console riser, riveted in place just like the AIM shows. Should this be there on a non radio car or was it only installed at assembly if a radio was ordered? If it shouldn't be there then the folks (Delco) who put the radio in really did a good job of doing it correctly.
