Does a wiring harness clip go here?

The pictures are of the firewall of my 68. I'm refurbishing the harness clips. There is a 3/16" hole in the triangular area shown on the photos that did not have a clip attached to it when I tore down the car. Is a wiring harness clip supposed to be there? If so, small or large clip? Anyone have a picture from their car?

    Thanks,

    John

If referring to the 2nd picture, my Jan 68 built car does not have a clip or a hole for one to attach. With that said, I hope others chime in. BTW my car is not A/C, perhaps that may make a difference.

Does the AIM offer any help?

My 68 does not have a hole in the firewall in this position.

John, my late 1969 non A/C convertible has a hole that looks the same size at the same location. In the 1969 AIM, UPC 0 Sheet A10 shows the specs for 2 holes for A/C in that area. UPC C60 Sheet E3 shows the electrical and vacuum harnesses that go through the holes. The holes shown in the AIM are much bigger (1.62) than the holes in our cars. Why the small hole is there I have no idea.

            John,

The sound of silence to my earlier suggestion to look at the AIM is deafening.
1968 AIM UPC 0 Sheet A9, w/C60 = one hole on each face of that triangular portion of the dash. Both of them are to be 1.62-inches +/- according to the AIM.

I can't get to my car but I had an old picture. I'll try to attach it. It's a C60 Car.

Re: Does a wiring harness clip go here?

Thanks for the pictures. I did study the AIM before I posted and did not find any clear evidence one way or the other. My car does not have A/C. On my car's drivers side of the triangular area shown on UPC 0 A9, there is a dimple in the fiberglass as suggested by the AIM. On the passenger side, there is no dimple, but there is a 3/16" hole that appears to have been put there to be able to rivet a wiring harness clip in that location, although no clip was there when I disassembled the car. On UPC 12 A9 it shows a wiring harness clip located on the surface just to the right of and slightly below the wiper motor. Change 8 dated 12-8-67 apparently revised the location of this clip and change 9 dated 12-8-67 revised the wiring harness. Since the revision notice does not show where the clip was originally located or what the wiring harness configuration looked like before the change, my question was for an early car would that hole be for a wiring harness clip? I've attached pictures of the engine bay of a 68 that was on EBay a while ago. I do not know what the build date for that car was. Those pictures show a wiring harness clip below and to the right of the wiper motor as is shown in the AIM and also one located where the hole in my firewall is that is not shown in the AIM. My car was built in October of 1967. so perhaps the location of the wiring harness clips and the routing of the harness was another of those running changes. Anyone with a picture of that area on an early 68? Trying to decide if I should rivet a clip there, fill the hole, or do nothing.

                Thanks,

                John

John, I would leave the hole. You can use black tar sealer to close it if you wish. In any event it will be hard to see when the car is back together. I had to move the wire and vacuum harness on mine to see that hole. We may some day learn why some cars have the hole and others not.

Got home and it looks like the hole on the left (looking aft) one hose out of three runs to the water shut off valve for an A/C car and the hole on the right (one bundle) also runs for A/C components as shown in the AIM. They are a much larger holes than in your picture
