    Solenoid 1114356 question.

Did this solenoid ever have thin gaskets under the connection terminal studs or the (2) the pan head mounting scews that attaches the forward bakelite cap to the plated body.

I have noticed that generic replacements have very thin "red" gaskets under all of the above.

    Thank you,
    Ralph

Ralph -- in this NOS service solenoid (instructions dated 1963) the two panhead screws have what seems to be a translucent plastic or nylon washer recessed flush with the bakelite. Under the S and R small terminals, and the two big copper stud terminals, just metal flat washers. Can take close-ups if you need.

BTW, what gasket shows between the bakelite cap and the body ? Black rubber on mine. Not sure what TFP was.

        Wayne,

        Follow up question:

What's your best guess to what finish is on the (2) pan head slotted screws?

Kind of looks like either black phosphate or maybe black oxide ???

        Thank you,
        Ralph

Ralph --- a pic will probably help, with lighting angle that shows it best.

The detail under this light seems to rule out black oxide or dark phospate coat?

            Great Picture!

            Thank you
