    Amp Gauge Question

The new amp gauge doesn't seem to be working correctly .
It works in reverse ? I placed the capacitor lead closest to the outside wall .
Any suggestions ? I bought the gauge from Long Island corvette no warranty on part.
The plug seems to only go on one way. Can't reverse wires. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you tried it without the capacitor to rule it out? It is only here for static on the AM radio band.

Wayne it sounds like you need to reverse the wires. maybe the repro gauge is not wired correctly. If the connector will not flip, plug connector and slip the wires from the plastic connector and switch. Thats all it can be.

Thanks . I will try it without capacitator. The Gauge is a a/c delco GM Restoration part #39-38B. Long Island Corvette says on the box instrement is tested before shipping. I will probibly end up reversing the wires. Thanks Guys

My guess is that the terminals were installed upside down, which in effect reverses the wiring. Be sure the terminals are installed so that they form an upside down "v".

Wayne.. had same problem with my new gauge. I found you can reverse the tabs on the back of the gauge by loosening the screws holding the tabs/prongs in place, turning both tabs 45* in opposite directions (they will reset onto new holes there), and re-tightening. Plug then goes on (sort of upside down) but works fine. Not sure this is kosher, but the gauge works fine now!
