66 Dim Instrument Lamps

I see there has been some discussion on using 1817's instead of the 1816's as a brighter bulb but they are hard to get. Somewhere recently on here someone had used LED's instead. I was wondering if that worked out well or the 1817's are the way to go. I have 1895's in there and come to find they are even weaker than the 1816's. Some nights I could barely read my guages!

Brain, I think that L.I. Corvette sells kits for the dash lamp bulbs. Also I recently bought a box of 1817 bubs for my 63 at a auto parts store. Have you tryed ?

No I haven't. I just figured it would be hard to find based on what I saw on the net. I also assumed that the Long Island kits were whatever cheap substitue were available. I'll check with my local guy I use.
