    L46 350/350 Convertibles made in 1970

    How many L46 350/350 Convertibles were made in 1970? No P/S, A/C.

4,910 of the 17,316 Corvettes produced in 1970 came with the L46 motor. There were 6,648 convertibles produced. I think you will have to extrapolate from those numbers to get a guesstimate. Not aware of any source where it's broken down any further.

Continuing on Paul's point, there were 6,648 convertibles and 10,668 coupes built in 1970.The 4,910 L46's shows that 28.3% of all Corvettes in 1970 were L46's. If you extrapolate from there, it seems that 38.4% of all '70s were convertibles, which proportionately suggests that approximately 1885 convertible L46's were made. Not completely accurate for sure, but arguably a fair estimation through rationalization.

Out of those estimated 1885 - do you know how many were 4-speed manual transmissions?

All of them. Automatic wasn't an option for the L-46.

Any chance you could run your car on a chassis dyno? I could use the data. https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...no-Runs-Part-2

Hi Al. Looks like you are new to posting here. Welcome! Interested to hear about your car. Have you had it long? Photos?

According to Mike Antonick's Corvette Black Book, approx 25% of all 1970 Corvettes were born as 4 speeds. I think the L46 was 4 speed only.

I don't know all this information. I do though, have a copy of the Black Book. It's a great book and I suggest you pick one up and add it to your Corvette reference library. You'll be glad you did. You can buy one right here on the NCRS web site.

Here's the link to the book in the NCRS store:

While you're looking at this book, check out other important references in the NCRS store as well. There's the NCRS Pocket Guide and the '70-'72 NCRS Technical Information and Judging Guide to name two. There are numerous other books that we all use. Perhaps some other folks will ring in with further suggestions.

You may know this, but with the 1970 Corvette Service Manual available from NCRS store you will need the 1970 Corvette supplement that is also available from the NCRS store.

The wide ratio four speed was the base transmission for the 70 models. All but the TH400 cars got a four speed of some type.

There were 17316 1970 Corvettes made. Qty. 5102 of those had an automatic transmission meaning that 12214 or 70% had a four speed.
