I'm cleaning up my shop and have some race tires mounted on 7.00 X 15 American mags. The tires have an 11.0 tread width. Will these fit under my 61 Corvette in the rear. Jerry

I doubt it but depends on how much you want to change the rear suspension. I'm running 245/60/15 on the rear of my 62. Tread width is 8.5, but the section width (sidewall to sidewall) is 9.8. This is as wide as I dared without air shocks to keep the car from hitting the tire. The other problem is the tires will hit the leaf springs if too wide. To run a rim with less back space moves the tire out towards the fender kinda of a catch 22. Back in the day I ran 10 inch cheater slicks with 5 leaf springs and air shocks to keep the body from coming down on the tire, rode like a ridig frame Harley. Then to make the car level and for better weight transfer we would put 3-4 inches blocks between the frame and front suspension, kinda looked like a gasser. What kind of tires and how old are they?

Terry i think you answered my question, no they won't clear. These particular tires are new Goodyear Blue streak 25.0X9.0 15 inch. i'm cleaning out my shop getting ready for race season. i have stacks of 6.00 X 15 Goodyear Blue Streaks that have been run but still have a few practice sessions in them. If anybody wants them they can have them. i'm in Boulder Colorado. Jerry- Top
