    65 idler pulley assembly hardware

    HI

My 1965 idler pulley assembly is mounted with the hardware shown in the photo. The nut with incorporated external star washer differs from what is shown in the AIM. The AIM shows the same split lock washer as on the lower mounting bolt. I assume mine is NTP but wanted opinions here prior to "correcting".

Also, anyone know typical headmarks for the lower mounting bolt head?

    Thanks

    Gary

Re: 65 idler pulley assembly hardware

Here is an original set up (Mar64) - I suggest that you follow the AIM since if it's different (and seen) you are responsible to prove it is NTP.
An observation, mine does not have any part numbers on the pulley & is original. Suspect the production parts had no number however the NOS or service replacements may have had the part number.
I wasn't able to find any information on the P Washer (446212) or Bolt (122126) -neither number came up in my search. The Plain Washer was replaced by 120395 which is a 15/32ID, 59/64OD, thick=1/16, finish in Cad, note it's a little larger than a normal off the self washer.
As for the lower bolt, mine is a grade 8 and do not believe such a strong bolt belongs at that point, only spec at 20-30 FtLbs, so suspect I replaced mine at some point.

I would use a head marking of "WB", "TR", "M", or just a center circle.

Did some more searching and found some past posts using the part numbers, try. In summation
    69 AIM the washer -

    UPC: LT1
    Sheet: A1
Title: V-8 Eng. 350 CU. IN. Spec. Hi Perf - Contents - Gas Pipes & Fuel Pump
    Item: 4) 446212

For both 1965 (L84, L76) and 1967 (L79), the assembly manuals show crank pulley bolt 181629 is used in conjunction with the 103321 split-lock washer and the 446212 flat washer.

    Bolt 122126

    Jerry asks; Re:65AIM
For example what is bolt 122126? It bolts the fuel tank support to the frame.

Jerry, The #122126 part number bolt is also in the 1966 AIM UPC 8, Sheet B1, Item #1. It is 3/8-16 x 7/8" Regular Hex, Grade 2, Cad or Zinc plated. Dave (Note, its the same for 64AIM) HOWEVER can not buy its a Grade 2 since the torque called for on the pulley is 20-30 and a Grade 2 is only good for 20 Ft Lbs. We could pick a Grade 5 good for 33 Ft Lbs - a little close. So my Grade 8 may be OK.

Gary, I would say the AIM is correct, As my 63 is set-up that same way. No star washer, just a split washer and flat on the adjuster part.
