    C7 @ bj

Hey Rob-- there is no C7 icon for the subject line. About time, or too soon?

About 1100 until 1300 they had the wraps off -- then they whisked it off to "another car show." Could this be the red one from New York? I couldn't get close enough to see the VIN -- if any.

Probably the same car. Rick Hendrick paid over 1 million for serial #1. He also paid 1 mill for the 68 L-88. That was cheap compared to the 4.2 million the Batmobile fetched.

I would say that was the New York car.

Now it is known who will get the very first serial numbered C7 production car. Who will get #2?

These charity cars, like Hendrick buys, are a hoot. Being a Shelby collector too, I was fascinated at the Craig Jackson owned Shelby "Green Hornet" test mule for 1968. It struggled up to $300K and stalled (it had a reserve), the dark glasses guy started hyping the car from the podium (Jackson said nothing), then all of a sudden bids came out of the woodwork (and nobody could actually see who was bidding all that) and in a few tens of seconds it was up to $1.8 million. But then rolled off unsold, and it was rumored the reserve was $2 million. My wife asked why he didn't just lower the reserve and sell it, I told her, like many BJ auctions with these phantom bidders used to try and set market, he would have to go back to $300K.

Yep, same car as the reveal car on 1-13-13 in Detroit at the Russell Bazaar. I hope to see it again tonight at the Detroit Auto Show.

              Mike,
My understanding is there were two cars at the Detroit show --one gray, one red. If they remained on display in Detroit, the red in New York and Scottsdale has to be a third car. That is why I wanted to get a VIN or vehicle ID.

                Terry,

This same red car has been shipped to these different venues. The gray car takes its place in Detroit center stage in the Corvette area when the red car is gone. When the red car comes back, the gray car is put into a different area of the display.

                Thanks,
                Mike

Did one actually get auctioned off at BJ??? My understanding was yes. If so, how much was final gavel price and is ownership differed or was it delivered on-site???

Yes VIN #1 of the 2014 C7 went to the famous media personality Mr. Hendrick (and who said Chevy got no PR at the BJ event, Mr. Hendrick was constantly on camera during the BJ event), for a cool $1 million and all proceeds went to a college someplace. IIRC, the new owner, Mr. Hendrick, will take delivery at the GM Detroit design studio where it was conceived whenever it actually gets built, many months I would suspect.

So there are two, Mike. Anyone seen the serial number(s)?

This is a photo of the VIN tag for the Cyber Grey w/ tan interior. The photo credit goes to the Corvette Blogger site. Also, looks like one of those QR Codes to the left of the VIN sequence.... Someday for judging we might need QR Code readers to verify original options?

This is great, so #3 test mule, that will keep them straight so Hendrick gets #1 production. You do wonder what will happen to this one, headed to the crusher like previous test mules, or sold for a big number at some charity auction?
