66 Coupe Door Glass Parts Questions

I have a couple of questions on replacement parts for the my drivers door window glass and rear channel runs. Separation of the door glass from the sash is what started all this. Managed to get everything apart and then began looking at the usual vendors for parts. My old sash liner looks like a channel with a bottom about 1/4" thick and sides that would hold the glass. The catalogs show something called sill tape. When I think tape I envision something like duck tape. What is the correct replacement part called and who has it? My concern is by using 'tape' the glass would sit deeper in the sash causing fitment problems.

My other question is the rear channel liner. My rear channel liner was a separate piece from the liner that goes around the door from the vent window to the rear. It was glued in the channel without any clips or a screw at the bottom of the channel. The rear channel has only one hole at mid length. The catalogs show a one piece liner that goes from the vent window to the bottom of the rear channel. What am I missing? This is a mid April build 66 Coupe. Was there design change?

Others have done this I'm sure. Any recommendations?

    As always, thanks in advance.

    Ed -

For the door glass-to-sash assembly, you're looking for "glass setting tape", which you should find at any auto glass repair shop.

Your coupe glass channel should be one piece, from the top of the vent window across the top, around the upper corner, and down to the bottom of the door; it's retained with "bubble clips" that are part of the channel, which snap into holes in the steel channel inside the door. See page 11 in the attached "Restorer" article by Dave Zuberer. Oops - that file is too large to upload here - PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you.

Thanks John for responding. I already have this article and used it to remove the glass. After finding more posts in the archives I read of others that found their rear channel in two pieces as mine. I've had this car for nearly 22 years and would be surprised if anyone had done this before now but, who knows.
