    Tires for C3 again

What tires are C3 guys using? My 69 does not get driven hard, mostly weekend cruises. I've looked in the archives and the Goodyear Eagle is recommended but it looks like they are not made anymore. Anybody use Goodrich Radial TA 225-70s. Car has stock wheels.
    Thanks

    Re: Tires for C3 again

John, I think there are 2 popular "stock" sizes for retro fit radial tires on early C3's like yours (and mine). The original tire, a bias ply belted tire size was F-70 15. Radial tires are metric in size, so 215 R70-15 and 225 R70-15 straddle the original "F" width. I found that 225's are easier to find than 215's, therefore, maybe more people buy the 225's. I bought 215's because I think they look more like the originals when mounted. I don't have a close up pic of my BFG TA radials handy, but can take a photo and post if you want. I do have a close up of my car with the F-70 15's on it and have posted it there. Notice the gap between the trim ring and the tire's side wall. This is where I see the difference between 215's and 225's. The 215's show a very similar gap. The 225 will also be slightly larger in overall diameter than its narrower counterpart. Hope this helps.

        Thanks Don and Ed.
If it's not too much trouble could you post a pic of the BFG 225-70s. I'd like to see what they look like in the wheel wells and the lettering. Do the Uniroyals have raised lettering Ed?

Very sharp car Tom. My favorite Corvette color and those tires look good. I think I'm sold.
              Thanks,

The spare fits nicely in the tub and no rubbing issues

I remember that '68 and '69 cars don't have the built in lower fender flares that the '70 thru '72 cars have so don't get something too wide or else you will get a lot of road debris flying up against the front and rear of the car ( I have seen these small clear plexiglass pieces that easilly clamp on and off for driving)

Good point about the spare fitting. I forgot to mention that.

Nice 72. Ironically there is a new color for the C7 called Lime Rock Green.............

Mike, What are those tires? Size? I can only see that they are Goodyear.
                      Thanks,

Yes, I agree they are very stock appearing, however they are bias ply nylon cord tires..............A whole different driving expierience than modern radial steel belted tires.
