Refitting the original lens against fresh paint really highlights how dull the finish on the lens has become. Tips on refinishing or recommending a vendor would be appreciated. Thanks...Clark

Re: Tail & Backup Lens Refinishing - 1970
Clark,
There are several plastic polishes on the market that with a little time and elbow grease will bring the lense back to nice condition. I have used both Mothers and Meguiars and prefer the Maguiars polish, but that is only my preference...........

Clark, you've gotten some great advice on how to polish the plastic lenses. I've had success with the power ball too. I bought a "tired" set of lenses once at Carlisle and polished them to the point they looked brand new. Some detailing is required to remove the dried polish from the tiny crevices and embossed letters.
To brighten up the stainless rings, I've used stainless metal polish and found them to be very nice. The stainless polish caused no damage to the plastic lenses. Bright stainless rings really make the lenses "pop".Don Lowe

To add to the post it also works great on the park lens. It will however not get the pit marks out but polish up nicely and have to really look up close to see them.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Clark, the previous mentioned products on the market now are very good. If you want to try using something you may have around the house now I have done a few sets using the following method: 1. Polish with 0000 steel wool. 2. If you need more abrasive than that use polishing compound (tooth paste also works) followed with 0000 steel wool. This method, used lightly, also has worked on stainless, plastic windows, and paint finishes. Just be careful to begin gently no matter which product you use.
