In the Netherlands in some cases the Dutch RDW (equivalent of the DMV) allows for some cars the usage of small plates. This is especially for imported older cars where there is simply no way to stick a normal, wider plate. For new models the demand it is incorporated in the design to fit the standard European plate. That is why you see different model for the European markets build for the same car (see the rear end of my C5 in the attached picture, the car is an official German delivered car).

Front plates are target points for speed reading equipment.

Those smaller European license plates (at least in Germany) take a LOT of discussion of private owners with their DMV - cars sold by GM directly usually receive pretty unsighty large plates that don't work very well with the car's initial design...

          Here are some from today:

I think it looks a lot better in person than in photos.
Only the gray one was there - the red one shown is a full sized "wall hanger."

Great video and an interview with the C7 Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter. Be sure to kick it up to high def to get the best quality.

Motor Trend Preview Video of the C7 at DAS. The C7 stuff doesn't start until about until about 4 minutes into the video.

              Me too.

It is the hit of the show. Folks were 5 deep around the turntable on Thursday. I had to wait a while to work my way in to where I could even see it (the gray one). Acura NSX Concept, Lexus LFA, even the Ferrari F12berlinetta: no waiting, step right up.
