I bought this engine that was sitting apart for about 25 years. Before rebuilding it, I did extensive searching for the car and finally found it. When I contacted the car owner, I was met with "my car has the numbers matching engine." He bought it from a dealer in Ohio. He didn't want to talk to me anymore. I can't imagine this engine was re-stamped with his number.

Sorry but my take on both of those pads are not what you want to hear. They were stamped by the same person and NOT stamped like that at Flint or St. Louis!

The build should be stamped in Tonawanda.

Thanks for the input. Based on the conversation with the current owner of the car, I went ahead and rebuilt this engine and put it in my car leaving the pad untouched. I would have gladly worked something out with him. Maybe the next owner of the car will realize what he is missing!!
