66 top grille mount tap broken??

On my 66, the top center grille mount tap is broken from the fiberglass. This is very common, I have looked at a lot of cars with this problem.
I can fabricate a piece of fiberglass and remake a tab, thinking about making it double strength, any one else deal with this problem and a better idea?

Making it double strength is good for function but not a good idea for flight judging. But a "little cheating" on the fabrication is a way of satisfying both.
