2014 CORVETTE STINGRAY TO BE SHOWCASED AT
    AMELIA ISLAND CONCOURS d'ELEGANCE

Chevrolet has chosen the 18th annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance to showcase the seventh generation of its iconic Corvette. This year "the Amelia" celebrates the 50th anniversary of the fabled Corvette Sting Ray and exhibits publically the latest Corvette to wear the Stingray name.

Corvette's 21st century Corvette Stingray debuted yesterday at the North American International Automobile Show and is faithful to its lustrous design heritage. It's the most powerful standard Corvette model in history. With 450 horsepower and 450 pound feet of torque from its new LT1 6.2 liter Active Fuel Management small block V-8 engine, the 2014 Stingray is the fastest and most fuel efficient Corvette in history.

"The Holy Grail for developing a performance car is delivering greater performance and more power with greater fuel economy and that's what we've achieved," said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief designer.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray will join original Sting Rays on exhibit Friday, March 8th at "The Design Analysis of the Revolutionary Corvette Sting Ray Seminar, Presented by Chevrolet", at 1:30 PM in the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island's Talbot Ballroom. Tickets are $25. Seating is limited. A Corvette Sting Ray poster signing with GM's Chief of Design Ed Welburn and Corvette Sting Ray designer Peter Brock will follow the 1:30 PM seminar. On Saturday, March 9th and Sunday March 10th the new 2014 Stingray will be on public display on the 18th fairway of the Golf Club of Amelia Island at the Ritz-Carlton. Admission Saturday is free. Sunday Concours' admission is $55 in advance, $70 day of show.

"The 2014 Stingray has the same sort of 'bolt of lightning' presence that the original Sting Ray did five decades ago," said Amelia Island Concours Founder and Chairman Bill Warner. "We're honored and humbled that Chevrolet has chosen 'the Amelia' to celebrate the return of the Stingray."

About The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance
Now in its second decade, the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is among the top automotive events in the world. Always held the second full weekend in March, "The Amelia" draws nearly 250 rare vehicles from collections around the world to The Golf Club of Amelia Island and The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island for a celebration of the automobile like no other. Since 1996, the show's Foundation has donated over $2 million to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Inc. and other deserving charities on Florida's First Coast. The 18th annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is scheduled for March 8-10, 2013. For more information, visit www.ameliaconcours.org or call 904-636-0027.

Proof readers really blew the commercial didn't they. But for the most part only you guru's would know that.

Today's designers seem to be caught up on those huge black panels in the front or rear of vehicles don't they. I remember seeing them on Chrysler, etc.
Which one of you will be the first to paint that panel body color. Nice ride though and one I wish I could afford. JD

Well guys, doesn't it read the 50th anni of the Sting Ray!? That was 1963 - so 50 years do fit...

From what I have read and been told by a person working the project:

the 2014 Stingray is the fastest and most fuel efficient Corvette in history.

                  Latest ZR1???

Must mean base model , and Amelia Island has not been known for accuracy or proof reading anything.

Sorry, I did not write exactly what I meant. Wife points that out a lot. The source said the recent ZR1's are fastest production Corvettes, faster than the 2014. A few years ago when asked to write a description of a car for Amelia the caution came out that spelling and conforming to good structure would be checked but accuracy was our responsibility.

The 63 has a nice hood for a 63 that is.

Interesting reading here too....Look at the back of his "Student's Car". Appears similar to the Stingray rear end body design.

Further down a early sketch of the Stingray he did in late '57.
