    '65 Air Cleaner Stud

My car was judged on 11/18/12 (TF as of that date). One thing they took a point deduction for was the air cleaner stud. I thought I had the original but did not fuss and ordered a new one from Long Island
Corvette. The stud they sent me looks exactly like the one on the car that supposedly is wrong. The Tech Info manual says the stud has a 'small bell or hex-shaped shank seperating' the top and bottom threaded sections. My stud (and LIC's) has a section seperating the threads but it is round. Can anyone shed a little knowledge on this matter?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Whoops. This is a 300hp/327. Has a twin snorkle air cleaner. Tks.

In that case, see my pic. above, the person judging your car was wrong.

Yep, that is the one on the car (and the extra one from LIC!) Tks for the help.

My 1969 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1968) describes the 3777266 air cleaner stud as 1/4"-20-20 X 3 1/4". I have been looking for an original 3777266 air cleaner stud at swap meets and salvage yard since that late 1980's without any success. The WCFB and AFB carbs at swap meets never seem to have the air cleaner studs and the passenger car WCFB/AFB air cleaner studs were different.
I assume that the Corvette Central repro WCFB/AFB air cleaner stud is correct as shown in the link below.

Dave: That is what my original looks like as well as the one from Long Isl Corvette.

                Mike,

I only buy reproduction parts when I absolutely need them and replace the repro part after I find an original.
Is the L.I. Corvette repro stud identical to your original or it is reasonable close?

Dave: I did not count the threads but the Long Isl stud is really close to the original.
