1967 Transmission Shifter Bracket Bolt UPC 6 B6 item #3

Does anyone know the length of the 3416253 bolt that mounts the shifter bracket and the transmission bracket to the frame crossmember. I THINK mine is 3/8x16x1 3/8" long, grade five with a L5 headmark. The bolt on the other side is the 454905 bolt and it's the same grade eight bolt that's used at the rear strut rod bracket.

If I am correct how come the 3416253 bolt is not grade eight?

Timothy, 3416253 is 3/8-16x 1-1/8 reg hex grd 8 zinc while 454905 is 3/8-16x7/8 reg hex grd 8 zinc. I do not know the head markings. Scott

I have had several original cars apart and you will see different head marks of the era in use. I have also noted the nuts are typically the lock nut type.

Thanks Scott and Gary for responding to my post.

I am installing the original 40433 fuel pump on my car and one of the pump attachment bolts is the correct 3/8 x 16 x 1 1/2" with attached lock washer. This bolt is anchor headmark with three lines 90* apart, 9/16" wrench size. The other fuel pump bolt is this L5 grade five bolt that's 1 3/8" long and the other original fuel pump bolt is at the drivers side transmission bracket to frame mount. Someone has been here before me so my intention is to correct the bolt locations.

Scott, do you have any GM data showing this 3416253 bolt as grade eight, I can't find any info on the bolt. The repro bolts have the shorter grade eight bolt with a longer grade five bolt that's why I believe the L5 bolt went here.

        Any other info is appreciated..

Timothy, I have no more information on 3416253. On the fuel pump, I thought those 3/8 bolts all had a small hex head and not 9/16 wrench size.

Scott, The fuel pump bolt changed in (I think) July 66 to the later style bolt. I always thought my Sept 66 built car would be to early for the change but the newer fuel pump bolts are there.

My question to you is how did you determine the 3416253 bolt is grade eight. I know the shorter bolt on the other side of the transmission bracket is grade eight and it makes no sense that the 3416253 would not be grade eight. I think the bolt that was used on my car is this L5 with three lines(grade five) 1 3/8" long.
