69 storage tray / light install?

Hi, I bought the replacement storage tray liner and the light / harness.

So, the tray looks close to my original that is in a few pieces, but is there a trick to setting it in place? It just won't set all the way down & in. I tried triming some obvious underside sharp edges, but still not fitting.

And I bought the tray light, do I have to drill a hole in the storage frame area where there is a flat tab and snap the light in? That flat tab area does have a small circle mark, almost looks like a mark to show where to drill a hole.

    Thanks,

    Doug

I have a 70, so not sure if they are the same. To install my center storage tray liner (made of flocked cardboard which contains the light) you need to remove the plastic bezel that goes around all three storage trays.

Yes, plastic frame is out, the tray liner won't fit as of now, it looks like the end of the tray hits a flat metal tab right behind the console end, so I can't get the tray to go all the way in & down.

And, do I drill a hole for the light in the plastic frame?

      Thanks,

      Doug

        Doug,

Can you post some pics of what you have?

Having problem posting pics, but should be simple I guess. The new storage tray liner just does not fit down & in, does it need to be trimmed, anyone done this? And, do I just drill a hole in the storage frame plastic to snap in the light? Where your pic shows the light switch installed my frame tab does not have a hole in it, so is there a drill bit size to make that hole, and then does the switch just snap in?

          Thanks again,

          Doug

          Thanks,

          Doug

This is a common problem with the reproduction center storage box the size and shape is not correct. Do you have your original and what is it condition or problem. If it is only the flocking that can be reapplied I have done this for a few chapter members here in Cincinnati.

              Hi Paul,

Original one broken in too many places to fix up. Putting the repro next to it makes you think the repro will fit, but it just won't quite set all the way down & in. I may have to just keep triming it and working on the front & rear folds. Am I correct that the front & rear folds go under the body area, so not to wind up between the storage frame surround and the body?

              Thanks,

              Doug
