Friend purchased a very nice 1977 survivor, and is an excellent candidate for NCRS judging. The car has had only 3 previous owners (all friends) and was stored more than driven. It is very original and has the original tires in excellent condition. The paper work included the broad cast sheet which shows Gymkana suspension. The brake calipers are RED and he was told by the seller that is correct for the Gymkana suspension. Is this correct?

NO C2, C3, or C4 Corvette was ever originally equipped with calipers that were painted red. Absolutely none.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1977 Gymkana question
Philip, correct black. I still have the '77 and '78 I ordered. The '77 has FE7 Gymkhana and the '78SA has the Trailering Package which includes the FE7. Of note, the front crossmembder marking on the Trailering Package is FE7. Steve- Top

Re: 1977 Gymkana question
A second thought- if the intention of this car is to attempt Bowtie, please don't 'correct' anything you find. Since you've got the broadcast sheet in hand, does this man that someone has pulled down the fuel tank?Friend purchased a very nice 1977 survivor, and is an excellent candidate for NCRS judging. Re: 1977 Gymkana question
Actually, he could correct the calipers and make them black since they've obviously been touched anyway.
However, generally Mike is correct - you don't want to improve anything on the car.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: 1977 Gymkana question
When I ordered the '77 I asked the dealer, who was also a friend, if there was anyway to get J-56's. He did contact his regional rep and as expected was told not from St. Louis. Bruce did offer to order the J-56 parts and install but at the time that was a stretch, as was the Greenwood mods. I was considering. I did load it up with Guldstrand and Koni components within a year, though.
