67 Sidepipe Question

My sidepipes are not orginal but want to keep them on but have a question, do the outside splash guards remain installed or are they supposed to be removed I have the drivers side off and the passengers still there.

Splash guards are to be in place with no weather striping or staple holes from the weather striping

The outside guards remain installed on both sides.
