I'll be in the area this year and would like to have a gander at this meeting. But I find the $50 registration fee for just looking around a bit steep. Do I have to register just to look around>

As Harry said -- not required for this meet, but other meets may require a one day pass to enter and some require a meet registration to enter. Not all are alike. For any meet, including the Kissimee Old Town event, if you wish to participate in any of the Schools or Seminars, or Judging you MUST register for the event.

Many people show up just to check out the cars offered for sale and the numerous vendors wares in the swap meet area. These are always open to the public. The only reason for fencing the judging and vendor areas is for night time security. Old Town's own vendors and cruise night events go on (Friday and Saturday) simultaneously as well.

No,
the judging field is open to the public during the meet. Just go hover near the C3s, make friends with an owner or two, and stand by and watch him sweat as the judge teams sweep through. You will enjoy watching the judging process.

If you are interested in having a look at the judging, I would recommend registering for the event and being an OJ (observer judge). The experience is invaluable. The judges are all excellent (though I have only OJ'd on 67's) and helpful and willing to answer questions you may have (when time permits for them). It really has taught me so much. You get to meet the owners, the judges, see the real world application of the judging sheets and have fun. Up to you...but it'w well worth it...
