65 Conv audit

Ok this is my 2nd post and remember, I am not a Corvette expert. Frame is off the car and have checked everything using the NCRS books and judge guides etc. All original EXCEPT the main case of the 4sp has been changed so no vin number on that. Rear spring is a TRW fiber kit and rear gear is 4.33 so neither is factory (although fun to drive). Gear housing is original. Trans speedo gear is blue so 3.36 from factory?

I am at a crossroad (pun) with the project since the original trans case is missing. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Stephen,

I think if the #'s are correct for the engine changing ring and pinion gear along with the correct transmission main case and gears is no big deal. It's your car, try to remember to enjoy it and not let $$$ burn you out. Depending on body damage, check your frame good for straightness and rust and start there.

Much of this work you can do yourself if you research and are willing to ask questions and learn, that's what the HOBBY is all about.

I would agree with much of what Tim had to allow. Dependent what direction you take the car, fun driver or judged vehicle would chart a course for the tranny. If transmission works fine and driver status is your choice, leave it alone. Judged car, consideration will need to be given to change out main case.
