Hoping I can explain this correct.
Building a "Display" 1968 L-36 with rubber BB. It will be in my future "trophy/certificate" room. All parts will be original
except for the "Bare Rubber BB" which was discussed in a previous post. Will be sending a pair of "215" heads to my powder
painter. We all know that the 68 L36 had aluminum intake and flash chrome valve covers. I know from previous post that
when this engine was painted at the factory there was "hood" that covered the intake so the paint did not cover the aluminum.
How where the valve covers protected or was the engine painted w/o covers installed? I assume the bare metal of the heads
between the intake and top of head where it met the valve covers was not painted.(Correct?) Question: how far back should the front
of the head(where it meets the intake) be painted Chevy Orange? Enclosed is a picture of a L78; does it look correct to you
as far as the paint goes? Thanks in advance--Larry P.S. This is what people do when retired and time on their hands. Ha Ha
