Great. When you refer to the base of the rivet I assume you mean the shoulder region where the OD changes. I cannot tell for sure but it looks like the shoulder is slightly above the stand-off wall. If so the hinge when assembled is raised a little.

Yes, the base of the rivet is the shoulder region where the OD changes. And, no, the shoulder region is at the same height as the stand off wall. I set a flat edge across the gas door and confirmed that. I can confirm from the many used 68 gas doors that the hinge plate sits flush against the stand off wall (no gap).

        Ed,

I could also use the outside measurments for the 4 rivets. That is, if I have the 4 rivets formed as one part I want to insure that they line up with the center of the for holes in the hinge. I may have rivets made separately and as a common part.

That is a bit harder to do accurately.

Do you have an old 68 gas door hinge? That would be the best place to get the measurements.
I would be happy to send you whatever stuff you need to get your measurements, etc.
All I ask is that you return them when you are done with them.

I have plenty of used doors, hinges, bezels, etc.

All I need is a close measurement between rivets (my old hinge holes are messed up). You could mic the measure from the top outside of the rivets and I will calculate the centerlines. I know the rivet is tapered but that will be very slight.

Thanks for the offer but shipping the parts is not necessary.

OK, using the vernier caliper, and measuring center to center of the rivets (using the points on the vernier caliper), I get 1.427 inches by 0.55 inches.
