I have a '66 327/350 that was recently tuned up with fresh plugs, points, distributor cap, rotor and vacuum advance. the timing and dwell were set to specifications. The carb was recently rebuilt. Didn't change the spark plug wires. The car starts and idles perfectly. When on the road the acceleration breaks up at 3500 RPM and won't allow for added smooth acceleration after that. Please help and have a wonderful New Year's

Re: '66 engine problem
Peter,
It's a process of elimination to find the problem with your engine. Start by making sure the dwell for the points is set at 30* and if you don't want to change the wires check the resistance (ohms) in the spark plug wires.
The wires are the only thing you reused and they could be the problem. Look at the engine running at night and you may see a light show from the plug wires, did the engine act the same way before the tune up.- Top

Re: '66 engine problem
Peter, If the problem was there before you started I would bet as Tim says a bad plug wire. I know how much fun they are if there routed like the factory did it, and the sheilding covering them. a bad wire sometimes does not rear its eye until the engine is under load.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
