    1961 Spare Tire

I removed the spare tire from my 61 and it appears to be a dog bone style welded rim but is painted on the face side to match the car.

The face also has the four tabs for the wheel cover .

Were spare tires painted to match the car ?

I do not think this is the correct wheel for a 61 though

    Thanks

You're correct- its incorrect. It was done by a po because 1) 61's didn't have dog bones, 2) 61's didn't have the rubber vacuum tubing in the slots.

It appears correct to me. According to Judging Manual ( which if you don't already have you should get) 1961 standard wheels are painted body color on the face. Why do you think it is not correct?

I agree. No dog bone wheels in '61.The dog bone welded wheel pictured with the rubber between the slots are common on '56 and early '57

Look at my photos for the correct back-side welds. Note the diff. in the shape of the center section, when compared to 55-56 pass car riveted wheels.

definatly just going through it fixing little things like the ebrake switch and door switches. Gave it a detail. and ordered a few missing things like gas cap and correct brake cylinder cap.
                      Thanks
