    63-7 vent window PV check

Can someone speak to the performance verification check on mid year vent window regulators? I'm in process of rebuilding mine now and plan to use the machined aluminum gears sold by AFC. Due to the complexity of the original configuration of the pot metal gear, this kit is supplied with a thick washer that eliminates the crank stops that are part of the original gear's configuration.

Would the absence of a "stop" when opening the vent window be considered a failure during PV?

I've devised a way to regain the "stop" feature for the crank gear and am considering writing an article for the "Restorer" but I'd like to know if this is even a problem before I go to the trouble.

Guess it depends on the Judge, but they should stop. I redid one of my vent windows with the AFC gear, didn't quite crimp the lower edge enough and it screwed itself out the bottom. The stop would be a real plus for the gear kits, maybe AFC can upgrade their kits as well.

Intersting to see how the kit works. Make sure there is no play with the glass rolled out. You can do this by rolling the vent windpow out and then gasping the glass and moving it from side to side. Movement will result in a faliure for PV.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll try to get a few pics along the way as I have a little time off between Christmas and New Years day.
