Michael, there are many NCRS members that are also on other forums, there was at least one person that agreed with what I posted in response to a vague fan shroud advert, probably via the same experience I had.
If you really want to know about the big block fan shrouds, search this forum. A few years ago, I posted the pictures of the differences in 66 to 67 and then there are discussions here and on the other forum about the part numbers going into 1968. If you are aiming at Top Flight, you will want the configuration for your specific year, the differences are easy to see under hood once you know what to look for.
The other thing to note about service parts is many were not factory original configuration, modifications were required to fit the part to your vehicle. This was done more often that you might think. A 68 service shroud requires a few modifications to get it to fit.
