    1972 Front License Plate Bracket

I'm going to install a front license plate bracket on my 1972 and after reviewing the AIM I'm still a little unsure of a couple of points and was wondering if someone could help me. Looking at the diagram the bracket is bolted on each side through the lower set of holds on the bracket of the car. Do the small turned in tabs on the tag bracket go into the second set (slightly forward and higher) of holes on the bracket of the car? Also the diagram seems to indicate that the rubber bumpers are pushed in from the rear of the tag bracket making the pointed end of the bumper be what comes in contact with the backof the license plate - is this correct? Seems a bit odd.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Glen

    Hi Glen,
How are you? Good to talk to you again.
The bracket mounts as you describe. The small 90 degree tabs are just long enough to seat in the holes and prevent the bracket from pivoting on it's mounting bolts.
I see what you mean about the AIM drawing of the rubber bumper... I'm curious now too? What's interesting is that the sheet for the rear license plate mounting parts, (UPC14 Sheet B1), shows the bumper with it's larger side against the license plate.
    Regards,
    Alan

      Glen

The bracket mounts as you have described the tang goes in the forward hole and in turn the bolt holes should then line up correctly. The rubber bumper should be installed large round bumper area to the front and the point with a flat to the rear also the round thick bumper also has a small hole in the center of it.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll get this put on on the weekend.

Alan I'm doing well. Hope to get a little downtime over the holidays to tinker with the car. Hope your having a great holiday season as well.

        Thanks again,

        Glen
