After conducting research for about a week, I still don't know what fan clutch would have been installed (if it was installed) on a car built during the 3rd week of Dec. 1959. What I have learned is that all units are expensive. I don't think the unit shown in the 58-60 judging guide is correct for a car built in 1959. The only characteristics that appear to be consistent are the smooth face with elongate bump and no hard stampings on the rear bosses. I have read the article from the 1997 Restorer, looked at units on ebay, and entertained info provided by a Vette restorer. I have numerous images of 1959 to 1961 fan clutches that I can share.
Does anyone have a late build 1959 (67 cars reported to have fan clutch) or pre-January 1960 car with an original fan clutch? Or have you ever seen an unrestored car from this time period with a clutch fan?
