    Aluminum Radiator

If I don't have the original radiator in my L46 and am going to replace - is there any harm in putting in an aluminum radiator? Advertisement states that an aluminum radiator runs about 20 degrees cooler - is this myth or fact? Does it reduce the resale value - this is a daily driver.

It all depends upon what radiator you have in the car now and what aluminum radiator you're talking about using as a replacement. If you have the original type copper/brass radiator and you're talking about replacing it with the aluminum GM #3155316 radiator (used on most 1963-69 and some 70-72 small blocks), you won't see any significant difference in cooling. Both your original type radiator and the 3155316 have about the same cooling capacity. Plus, if you want to make this switch, you'll also have to change radiator support, fan shroud, and radiator hoses.

If you have an original type copper/brass radiator and you want to change to a DeWitts "Direct Fit" aluminum radiator (basically, an aluminum copy of the original copper/brass), you may well see some improvement in cooling as the "Direct Fit" does have a higher cooling capacity than the copper/brass. For this conversion, you do not have to change radiator support, shroud, or hoses.

I heartily recommend the DeWitts "Direct Fit" aluminum radiators.
