Yes you are correct on that point; but to put the burden of proof on the owner in almost all cases one would need a "time machine" to go back to St.Louis
and see exactly what happened. As of yet that machine has not been invented. Thanks Larry

We only ask for that proof in cases that are not TFP (Typical Factory Production). In my experience we don't see non-TFP very often, and when we do the owner sometimes has paperwork to support the deviation. I am thinking specifically of a 1972 painted black at the factory. There was a yard of paperwork with that car including the NCRS delivery data and document verification, but no time machine -- and none was needed. What will we require for the next black 1972? Now there is where the fun is in this hobby.

That was an interesting thread to read.

I wonder why the expert never addressed the conflict where he stated he knew it was reportedly EO before he inspected it, yet the new owner and Clem were not in contact until after the inspection.

That fact seemed to just roll on by without ever being addressed.

the new owner found me because i had posted the VIN of the Z-28s i have owned on a camaro website. i guess he just googled the VIN and my post came up. a lot of people knew about the color of the car but i don't think the expert knew what to look for. he assumed the stamp on the build plate for paint code was for stripes delete option which the car also had. it is a case of the expert screwed up and does not want to admit it as his reputation is at stake along with the $$$ he get to check out these cars

The COPO 9737 Sport Car Conversion package was only available on the COPO 9561 cars, which had the 427 L-72 engine (commonly known as the "double COPO" cars); 9737 added the E70-15 tires on 15" x 7" rally rims (same as used on the Z/28), a 1/8" larger (13/16") front stabilizer bar, a 140-mph speedometer, and a tachometer.

Thanks John! I really appreciate the answer.

While reading this post it reminded me of when a friend asked me to go to New Haven, In. to look at new cars as we often did. We took his rusted '57 red/white Ford to the Chevy dealer. We walked around a few minutes then he suggested we go to the new car prep storage area to see if there was anything of interest. We walked in the "shed" and there sat a beautiful new blue/white stripes, standard black interior, no console, 4.10, Z-28! He asked me if I liked it and of course I said yes. He grinned and said it was his and we were there to pick it up. I drove the Ford back to his house. We picked up the Bryant brothers, including Tom who is on this Board, and took a ride. A few minutes into the ride we saw Ronnie Fee and his 440, Torq Flite R/T. The Z only had about 50 miles on it by then but the temptation was toooooo great. Sid launched "relatively" easy but missed 2nd! I still remember what he said, or yelled. At the end of the 1/4 the Z did it. The following weekend, when neither of us were working at Roger's Mobil Station, we went to Detroit and cruised Gratiot Ave. looking for speed shops. We stopped at Standard Speed Shop, who sponsored Sam Gianino's '57 Vette, and a couple of other shops. Sid picked up an Allison transistor ignition, headers, Sun tach, and 3 gauges. Not everything got installed. He still has the car, I see Tom each year, and we still have the memories.

I used to cruise/race with Sam on Woodward back in '59-'60 when I had my '53 Corvette with a 6-71-blown "nailhead" Buick; remember Harman-Collins roller cams and Joe Hunt Vertex magnetos?

i just sold my vertex mag a few years ago to someone restoring a old sprint car. used to have fun with those with the cap off and have some grab the power lead while you cranked it.

Aaaaahhhhhh, YES and YES! 'Remember cams advertised as "full race" and "3/4 race"? I was just looking at a picture I took of Sam's '57 at the Nationals. I miss those days of "Run what you brung", "If it don't go chrome it", and mechanical versus electronic speed equipment. I used to take the '57 up to Coldwater once in awhile looking for "gas and Bucron money" and came upon a girl driving a Max Wedge. On the rear bumper it read "If you beat me --- --- --- --." I didn't even get the $5.00 we bet. There were some really nice, and fast, cars in and around Detroit.

we had a girl around here who had a 270 hp 57 chevy and i think she lost on purpose as she was not very good looking.
