    Sonoma 2013 & Monterey 2013

Is there any faction of NCRS that is attempting to put together a 60th Anniversary event to coincide
with either the Sonoma or Monterey Vintage events?

Monterey is going to be fantastic. I hope we can get a lot of members out there. It's too bad the National Meet didn't coincide like in 2002.

There will be a huge Corvette Corral at Laguna Seca, for the Monterey Historics, that will be run by WSCC. As Jerry said, Mike Ingham is trying to put together 60 Corvettes, one from each year, to be on display. Chevy is 'buying' the entire lake area and expecting 600-800 Corvettes. There should be a lot of old Corvette race cars, and hopefully drivers also. They are talking about a dinner Saturday night too. Should be a great event. I've heard rumors that Sonoma is planning some kind of celebration of Corvette at their vintage races in May, but I haven't heard much more than that. So far, neither NCRS or WSCC is involed.

Has anyone camped at Laguna Seca? I see they have multiple camp grounds and was wondering if anyone knew if one was better than the other views.

Scott, if you are thinking of camping at the Monterey Historics, it's been full for quite a while. Most of the time at Laguna, you have to get on a waiting list to camp for any major race.

Thanks Ken, I just got off the phone with the camping ticket office and found that out. They do have open spots for general and the E-7 terrace spots but those don't have camp fire/BBQ or picnic tables, also a 3 night minimum at $200 ouch.

And, most hotels are going to run that much during this event. It really sucks when they raise their price when a big event comes along. We get much better rates during the ALMS races down there.

Tell me about it! I'm there for two weeks for the Pre Historics and the Historic's and it's typically $300 per night for Pre Historics and $400 night for Historics. We usually rent a house and put in three or four couples. You can also stay in towns about 50 miles away and get much better rates. look forward to seeing you there. Stop by and talk. #71 black/red 64 FI car.

Thanks Jerry, if we make it down we will look you up. I'm thinking for that kind of money we would commute in from another town and motel it. Do you go to the Pacific Grove cruise night as well? I hear that is pretty fun along with a partial drive along the "17 mile drive".

I haven't done the cruse night. I'm there with the race car and my hauling truck. There is a bar outside Monterey that does a cruse night party and the cars and food are great. Car shows in Carmel are fun.
