The tech guide states that the front end was assembled and painted semi gloss black and then assembled to the frame. The photo shows everything painted black. The JG says all spindles, spindle supports steering spindle arms and lower inner shafts were not painted. Help Pat McPherson 55168

Re: 59 front end paint
Patrick
there are some pretty good restored chassis images here on this Vintage Corvettes' 59.
Others will have to comment on the correctness of the various finishes.

Re: 59 front end paint
Thanks great photos , however I see some discrepancies. The JG says the driveshaft is not painted and the wheels on a 59 are black. The restoration guide says the front end was assembled and then painted. Also the steering column should only be painted interior color part way down the collar. All this info I have been collecting from the JG. I am just confussed as to what is real. I am the second owner of the 59 and I find a lot of things are different from the guide. Thanks again for the help. Pat McPherson 55168- Top

Re: 59 front end paint
Hi Patrick, The front end assembly was totally painted as an assembled unit, perhaps the zerc fittings were covered or wiped off later. Everything else should have been sprayed, ramdomly ofcourse, with black tar based chassis paint. The mounting bolts are unpainted on the chassis, but all else including brake drums, spindles etc got sprayed, covering up all those pretty inspector paint dabs.
