    70 key buzzer

I have an intermittent key buzzer that stays on when I remove the key. When I close the door the buzzer will go off. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thankyou Jeff

Jeff, sounds like a bad key buzzer switch in he column, it requires removing steering wheel, lock plate, and turn siginal switch to get access. the non tilt and tele wheel is easier. the switchs are avaliable from most venders. The one for the tilt and tele.was just reproducted a few years ago. Corvette steering sells that one. The plastic switchs are common problems as the plastic get brittle from age.

      Jeff

Ed has given you a good suggestion but for me my first attempt to repair would first use a good electrical contact spray cleaner not to much because it could remove paint from the outside of the column. First disconnect the battery!!!! When you spray the cleaner in the key slot also move your key in and out to help clean the area it may free the binding of the switch and then a electrical lubricant. You can obtain a cleaner and lube in one can from say Grainger here is a link:

Another option I have done with my original owner 1970 is to remove one wire from the relay on the left in front of the master cylinder. My buzzer works, just do not like hearing it.
