59 vette frame paint
Has anyone used POR15 rust prevenative paint on there chassis? I sandblasted the chassis and they the company says you just paint over the metal two coats and that is all that has to be done. Pat McPherson55168

Yes, I have. It is a very hard, tough paint. You have to clean it and prep it using their products before you paint. The second coat should be their chassis coat black, as the POR 15 is UV sensitive.
There are some members on the board here that do not like it, so this should make for an interesting thread.
One complaint people have is it goes on quite thick, which is true. Another concern is the gloss level (too high), but that can be controlled with gun pressure. But it is very durable and no solvent will attack it once it is dry. To give you an idea, you cannot have any paint on the can rim when you seal it back up. If you do, you will destroy the can before the lid will come off. And this is true. Never seen anything like it. -Dan- -

I used Rust-o-leum professional red primer and black semi-gloss. The paint is pretty close to the gloss from the factory and easy to work with. Some recommend Quanta or Eastwood products. I have used Eastwood and it is also a very good product but a little too glossy. Then there is powdercoating.
Like Dan said POR-15 is very tough paint and somewhat difficult to work with after it is dry. Do not get any on anything you do not want coated, it is very hard to remove.
