    69 Wiper Door Linkage

Can anyone tell me if the screw/nut shown in the attached pictures is original as depicted in the 69 Assembly Manual page J87 (Nut: Item 3, GM# 145487/ Screw: Item 4, GM# 9428030)? The screw and nut were heavily coated with black paint. After removing the paint I plated the nut and screw. It's hard to see from these low pixil pictures but the letters 'P A L' are stamped on the outer flat surface of the nut. What was original finish for the nut and screw? Were they painted over during the wiper assembly installation?
    Thanks
    Wes

    Re: 69 Wiper Door Linkage

    Hi Wes,
I downloaded your attachment but was unable to open it for some reason... but....
Since the screw and nut are shown as being part of the linkage installation I'd think they would have been there when the wiper well received it's black out. But since they're so close to the fender on each side they MAY in fact have received little if any black paint.
The pieces on my 71 have a dark finish on them of some sort. The nut is a very odd 'stamped' (?) nut.
They are unpainted at this point on my car.
    Regards,
    Alan

      Wes,

Google 'pal-nut' (or 'palnut') to see if that matches what you have.
