    Re: Dr Rebuild

    Hi Stuart,
I've found that having the phone answered by Mrs. D. Rebuild makes for a more pleasant experience, but as the others have posted, Dr.R has many small parts that are not readily available elsewhere.
    Regards,

My experience on Dr R, Don't be in a hurry to get your order, I live less than 100 miles away and it took over a week to get my order. His catelogue was last update when the cars were almost new (lol). If it's C2 items you are looking for Long Island Corevtte Supply is the best; zero back orders and ships quick, just be ready for the New York know what you want and dont waste my time attitude.

I agree. I've spend several thousands of $$$ with LICS. Never a back order, never a bad part. I do all ordering from their web site so I've never needed to talk to anyone that works there.

          Re: Dr Rebuild

Back in the early 80's at Blomington Gold I ask Richard, owner of LIC, after buying a small Corvette part if he had anything for a 409 Chevy. "This is a Corvette show!" Then tossed a pcv valve towards me and said, "That'll work for ya!" Called and ordered his catalog with no problem yesterday.

I've used Dr. Rebuild numerous times in the past and have always been extremely satisfied. The last time I tried to order parts, most of what I wanted was out of stock.

              Re: Dr Rebuild

I bought a few things from them 10 years ago but have gone elsewhere since. The sales people needed to finish charm school. I placed an order by fax (having been told here not to call) and it never showed up. When I finally called, the guy said the credit card was no good which was complete BS and apparently they didn't need the business enough to call me. I did like the catalogue a lot. It's like the airlines say, "we know you have choices..."

Dr. Rebuild, Geoffrey, is a great Corvette enthuist. He started the business because he could not get the parts he needed to restore his own Corvette's. He is a wealth of knowledge and as previously stated he has many small NOS parts that not available anywhere else.

If your restoring a C2 inner and outer heater box, he has the best materials. Also, excellent hoses that are spot on. I get along well with Geoffrey, maybe I'm as crusty at times as he is.

He is one of the few left that started the Corvette Parts business.

I will continue to buy from him.

Michael is correct, it is a big parts world. Just remember, each supplier does not make all of it's own parts maybe just a few of the SKU's. Trim Parts supplies lost of parts to everyone. Essentially, everyone supplies everyone else. You will also realize that you will buy parts from all of them as each will have their own speciality and quality that is better than the rest in certain areas.

                      Stuart,

Your comments reminded me of the Soup-N.a.z.i from Seinfeld... There will be no inquiries, no answers, and no soup for you!

On the other hand, if you know what you want, then make sure you have their catalog numbers handy for the parts, call the order line and talk to Debbie.

Same as everyone else positive before, however you need to check proper working of the part before installing or putting on the shelf for "later". I bought a AC Delco original 236 Vacuum Cannister for my 360 hp 1963 L84 coupe and because of a number of things I didn't get around to the install over six months later. Put it on, started to tune the car and no idle.

So began the research of where the problem was in the normal hunting down mode that lasted a couple of days. Finally did a check of how the VC held vacuum and it didn't. Although I really never used it over that six-month holding period I didn't feel it would be fair to whine to them about he part. Mrs. DR said they couldn't take it back after that long a time
                        period.
Have since ordered and received parts from them no problem. Just be careful on those old NOS parts to insure they work.

Maybe he's found out who in the Chicago area was matching his political contributions dollar for dollar, but sent to the other team.
