    61 coil bracket

The oiler on the 270 HP distributor is preventing me from installing the bracket for my coil because it is hitting it. I am thinking that the timing my be off a tooth. anybody know what I am talking about ?

Assuming all the parts are correct, There is a specific location the distributor is in as delivered to the assembly plant, and that will locate the clips for the cap on an axis parallel to the centerline of the engine. Look at the AIM Section 6, sheet 12 (at least in my '62 AIM, or look for a similar page in the '61 aim. Align the distributor properly so the rotor points to the proper location to fire #1 when the balancer indicates timing is correct, and you should clear the brackets easily.
