54 steering colum seal at firewall?

Is there a seal at the firewall where the colum passes through? what would keep water from getting in? I dont recall seeing anything there. Thanks folks.

there is a soft seal at the firewall and a hard seal over the top of that seal
The repro hard seal fits like cr*p.....

For the first time restorer....remember to slide the seal(s) onto the steering column after sliding it through the firewall and before sliding it through the lower dash hole, while installing the column through the firewall. It's easy to forget and the column is hard enough to get through the dash hole in the first place. Doing it the second time isn't any more fun than the first. LOL

Thanks Brett, thats great info and very easy to forget something like that. Ill hang the seals on the colum so as not to forget.
