Does anyone know how to get a hold of Roy Sinor

I received my shipping data and the data showed my car came from a dealership who wasn't open for busn till the 80's. I've sent Roy a couple emails but no replies I'm not sure if this is normal or if Roy is having computer problems. I thought since some of you guys know him personally you can help me get in touch with him. Thanks

I would try to contact Gary Mortimer at info@ncrs.org. He should be able to help you get an answer.

      John,

Where did you get the info that the Dealer wasn't open until the 80's?

Shipping Data Report information comes directly from the vintage GM records for the specific car years. The vintage records are manually searched to find the VIN listing.

Dealer Numbers and Zone numbers are like a dance. Constantly moving and often reassigned.

Roy Sinor's office hours are Monday through Friday 8AM to 4PM.

Don't know when you sent him an email. Roy will get to it in time. He receives hundreds of emails every day.

So, please be patient and you'll receive a response. If you don't receive a reply within 30 days, then you should contact him directly. The contact information is in the Restorer inside cover.

I usually get him in a figure 4. He has a tough time getting out of that.

The NCRS rep from CT. knows the dealership, he has lived there his whole life and he told me that they didn't open till the 80's I guess the dealership codes change hands when dealerships change hands. I don't think I have any chance of locating the first owner but you don't know until u try. At least I know the car went to CT first, it wasn't there long no more then 10 yrs. I think a snowbird own the car and brought it to FL. then decided to sale it.

This is an interesting issue. I had thought the NCRS dealer delivery data base info from GM has not only the dealer code and zone numbers, but also the dealer name and address on it. If so, this info about the dealer name not existing when the car was delivered seems odd.

Oh, OK, thanks Dick. Then where do the names and addresses come from on the NCRS document they send? I was able to independently verify mine, from an old dealer emblem from the car before restoration and some old match book covers under the seat, but some may not have such "luck" with that.

                      John,

You might want to check with the local library in the town. You may have to pay for a search.

Well yeah, his name, telephone number and address is published in every copy of "The Restorer" as well as the names and numbers for all NCRS board members, officers and Team Leaders.

My understanding is that Chevrolet has provided some lists of dealer/zone code v dealer name, but I have been told that these lists are far from complete. To be complete one would need a complete list for every year, and even then - like the AIMS - they would only represent a "slice in time." So they would not be complete for the entire year.

You are correct that dealer codes changed when the dealership changed hands as well as when the store changed names, and sometimes when a new store opened in the zone. They also could change if the zone boundaries were changed. I think it might not be too hard to imagine that changing the zone boundaries could result in two stores with the same dealer code in one zone after a re-distracting. Also, in general, the dealer numerical codes follow the alphabet -- that is lower numerical dealer numbers are nearer the beginning of the alphabet, so a new store opening could result in a renumbering of quite a few dealerships if there were no unused numbers available. Short story - the dealer numbers were frequently changed for a number of reasons.
