C2 headlight can adjustment

Any tricks for getting to the limit screw/locknut limiters to adjust up and down range of travel for headlight cans?I've been told you have to use a mirror and that there's a chance the screw will break off in its pot metal seat.

All of the parts around the headlight buckets take a beatting with the water and weathering. Be sure to apply something like Kroil and let it soak for a while. You can get new Y stops if needed. They are very awarkward to get to the bolts in the Y stops to adjust the open or close position. But you can use a mirrow to see under the fron valance. You need to rotate the headlight bucket to get to these bolts, I believe they are a 3/8' head and you can use a small open end wrench.

If you have never seen the stops, they are a Y shaped bracket that attaches to the shaft of the headlight bucket. Each end of the Y has a bolt that hits a stop. You can adjust this bolt to adjust the open and closed position of the headlilght bucket. I developed an article on restoring the Midyear Headlight buckets that is in last summer Restorer. Remove the hood first. It seems like a lot of work but it makes it 1000% easier to get to the stops and see what you are working on.
