    Head light bucket question

    Guys,

I need confirmation on my assumption. If I take out the headlight motor on a 67, the bucket should spin open and close freely with little effort?

    Thanks,

    Lawrence

If the two pivot bearings are not rusted/corroded/frozen.

This is my problem...frozen. I posted this problem a month or so ago and have just now got around to taking the motor out. Can't pivot the bucket. I have shot the pivot points with penetrating oil with no result. Maybe a heat gun will help?

Take apart time. No other way to do it. This is one of the most satisfying jobs a Corvette owner can do on his own with regular tools. There are several links on the Forum that give detailed how to instructions on taking apart the assemblies to rebuilding the motors. Nothing more satisfying than hitting the switch and both doors roll right on up and stop together. Or close to it.

Can't get to the pivot bearings with the bucket frozen shut...as far as I know...
